Hagar Running Four Classes Friday at Crowley’s Ridge and Midget Saturday at Riverside

Inside Line Promotions – WEST PLAINS, Mo. (June 8, 2021) – Derek Hagar will be a busy man this Friday when he competes in four divisions at Crowley’s Ridge Raceway.

Hagar plans to pilot his 360ci winged sprint car, 410ci non-wing sprint car and midget along with a 305ci winged sprint car owned by Todd Bradford during the event at the dirt oval in Paragould, Ark.

Hagar is helping promote the midget event that night along with the ensuing evening at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark.

“It’s fun,” he said. “I’m able to race in front of people in a different car. I think it gives me excitement to be able to jump into something like that and be competitive for the fans.”

Hagar will drive one of three Hagar Proctor Racing midgets both nights. He swept the doubleheader weekend last season.

“We’re trying to grow midget racing around here and give fans something more to watch,” he said. “Promoting is stressful trying to get everyone together to have a good car count and put on a good show. We’re throwing in an incentive for D2 cars. It looks like we’ll get some lap money, too. We’re trying to make sure it works for everybody.”

Hagar competed last Saturday at Legit Speedway Park, where he rallied from seventh to third place in an ASCS Mid-South Region and ASCS Warrior Region heat race. That earned a spot into the feature redraw and Hagar pulled the No. 2 to line up on the outside of the front row.

“We took the lead and had a caution on Lap 8,” he said. “My left rear tire went down. On the restart it allowed Marshall (Skinner) to get by me. Three or four laps later it blew out. We had to change the tire and we came from 20th back up to ninth. We had a winning car. We broke out a different car and everything went well up until that blown tire. If I couldn’t get the win I was happy Marshall was able to capitalize.”
