Hill Produces Many Memorable Moments Throughout Career-Best Season

Inside Line Promotions – SIX NATIONS, Ontario, Canada (Oct. 20, 2021) – Alex Hill enjoyed her best season of 360ci sprint car competition this year with numerous career-best runs as well as her first top-10 finish in the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour championship standings.

“I feel like we had a pretty good season,” the 21-year-old said. “We had a couple of low points, but I think we had a lot more highs that lows.

“We were usually fast. Unfortunately, I don’t think our results showed how fast we really were and how much better we were than in previous years.”

Highlighting Hill’s year were multiple new standards for her career-best finish with the ASCS National Tour, culminating in a pair of fourth-place outings in late July.

“Having our best finishes ever with ASCS were definitely highlights for us,” she said. “We finished fourth at U.S. 36 and then finished fourth again a couple of weeks later at Outlaw Motor Speedway. Those were our first top-five finishes with the series.”

The Hill’s Racing Team driver also scored career-best finishes at two of the biggest events in 360 sprint car racing.

“We did really well at Dirt Cup and the Hockett/McMillin Memorial,” she said. “We made the big show on the final night at both events and qualified for the A Main two out of three nights at each of them. We finished sixth in the A Main at Skagit on the Thursday show. That was our best finish with ASCS at that time.”

Hill credits more experience with her crew chief, Daryl Turford, and changes made to her car for her increased speed this year.

“I feel like Daryl and I became more in tune with each other this year,” she said. “Also, we made some changes to the cockpit of the car in the first part of the year that helped me a lot once I got used to it. I felt more comfortable in the car than before.”

After choosing to end her racing season a bit earlier than originally planned, Hill expects to return to racing in 2022.

“I decided to skip some races near the end of the season for personal reasons,” she said. “I just felt it was something I needed to do. But I’m definitely planning to race again next year. While I don’t know what my schedule will be, I probably won’t race quite as much as usual.

“Now that I’ve graduated from college I need to decide what I want to move on to with my life. My racing future will probably be affected by what I choose to do in other things going forward.”
