Bryan Hulbert – MESQUITE, Texas (March 23, 2022) Rolling out of the Devil’s Bowl Speedway fourth in points with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series, defending series champion, Blake Hahn, came up just shy of a win during Spring Nationals preliminary competition.

“Overall, we were happy with the weekend. Friday was definitely better than Saturday. The track slicked off, so you really had to hit your marks, and it made traffic interesting,” explained Hahn.

Chasing Wayne Johnson on the closing lap, Hahn came up three-tenths of a second shy at the finish.

“I was there, and feel like I could have gotten Wayne off the last corner if I hadn’t messed up off the bottom exiting turn two. I barely missed the line, so I said the heck with it and sailed it into three and four to see what I could do. Got close, but that’s racing.”

Going 14th to ninth on Saturday, track conditions made advancing any further a challenge for the Lucas Oil Tulsa Shootout No. 52.

“As soon as we rolled out, we knew it was going to be locked down, so we just got in line and passed when we could. Not ideal, but we still moved forward five spots and made the best of it.”

Looking to the next round of competition, Hahn will follow the series to I-30 Speedway for the Hammer Hill Showdown on Friday, March 25, and Saturday, March 26.
