RANDY’S FIVE: Lakeside/81

Randy's picks for Lakeside Speedway and 81 Speedway

Curious which drivers you should keep an eye on at each American Sprint Car Series National Tour event? Series Announcer Randy Ward will bring you his five drivers to watch each race week.

This week: Lakeside Speedway on Friday, July 11, and 81 Speedway on Saturday, July 12

RANDY’S FIVE:

Cameron Martin
Why: Cam Martin has made five appearances with the American Sprint Car Series in 2025, and he’s made the Feature all five times. When you look closer and see that three of those nights were at Volusia against a stacked field, that becomes very impressive. Last weekend at Belleville were his other two starts, and he raced to his career best finish with the Series when he crossed in second place at The Big One. Cam also has a win and a top five on his resume from the last few weeks at Knoxville Raceway. We may see him at Lakeside on Friday before he returns to the points chase at Knoxville on Saturday, where he is in the top five in points.

Brady Baker
Why: The Brodix Rookie of the Year contender has moved inside the top five in ASCS points. Baker has strung together some good races recently, where he has five top 10 finishes in his last seven races, which includes his career best in ASCS competition of second at Batesville a few weeks ago. Baker will try to keep up the positive momentum this weekend at Lakeside Speedway and 81 Speedway.

Sam Hafertepe Jr.
Why: How could you not have Sam on a list of drivers to watch, he just swept the weekend at Belleville and has five wins total on the ASCS schedule this year. Sam has recorded previous wins at both tracks on this weekend’s slate, which should have him rolling into the pit area with confidence at both places.

Garret Benson
Why: While the overall stats may not show Garrett to be a weekend favorite, he very well may be. He is a Rookie of the Year contender, so there has been a learning curve out on the road at new tracks for him. Last weekend was another one of those new tracks at Belleville, a very high speed track. Benson showed some skill racing to a top 10 each night on the high banks, and with Lakeside being another of the faster tracks on the schedule, watch for the No. 2B car to push forward and look to gain ground in the Brodix Rookie race.

Blake Hahn
Why: Hahn has put together a pretty impressive season so far with a couple of wins, one of those with ASCS at Batesville a few weeks back. He has a total of five top five runs with ASCS including a couple of second-place runs and those have Blake in second place in the overall season standings. He will need to keep those solid finishes up in order to keep himself in position to challenge for the Series title later in the season.

You can follow these drivers and more this weekend at Lakeside Speedway and 81 Speedway, by getting your tickets at the gate.

If you can’t make it to the track, you can watch every lap live – with Randy Ward – on DIRTVision.
