Britt Falls Just Short of First Lucas Oil ASCS Win

Landon Britt and Britt Motorsports invaded I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Ark.) on Friday night for the opening round of the two-day Hammer Hill Showdown with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series (ASCS) National Tour.

With 47 Sprint Cars on hand, Landon hit the ground running at the 1/4-mile oval by qualifying fastest in his group. With an inversion of four in place for heat race action he charged from fourth to second to earn the second-starting spot for the main event alongside Ryan Timms.

As the 25-lap feature went green Britt bolted to the lead and paced the field for the 17 circuits before Derek Hagar slipped by for the top spot. Landon went on to finish second behind Hagar with Timms, Aaron Reutzel, and Wayne Johnson rounding out the Top-5 finishers.

Saturday evening found 49 racers in action, and Landon qualified fourth fastest in his group in time trials, which positioned him on the pole of his heat race. He slipped to a third-place finish in his heat, which relegated to a B-Main, which he won.

Starting 17th on the grid for the 30-lap finale, Britt ultimately crossed the finish line in 16th.
