Bringing the score to 2-0 in the rematch between the USAC Amsoil Sprint Car National Championship at the ASCS Elite Non-Wing Series presented by Abilene Powder Coating in favor of the United States Auto Club, both tours converged on Oklahoma’s Red Dirt Raceway for the first time with Ohio’s Matt Westfall making an epic charge through the field for his third career USAC National Sprint Car score, and first with the ASCS Elite Non-Wing Series.

Racing into Friday’s 30 lap, $6,000 to win preliminary feature event via a runner-up finish in the Elliotts Custom Trailers and Carts Semi Feature, the Ray Marshall Motorsports No. 33m gridded the feature 13th for the start.

Committing fully to the hub of the speedway, that would prove to be the hot ticket as Westfall steadily worked his way forward.

Picking through traffic as he approached the front of the field, Westfall slipped into third on Lap 12, with second within his grasp only a few laps later. Silver on Lap 17, the chase was on for Kyle Cummins, who had led since the start.

Picking three to four-tenths of the second off the Cummins advantage, the chase for the point would turn quickly as caution lights came on with ten laps to run. Back to the bottom as the Avanti No. 3p torched the cushion, Westfall shot to the point off the fourth turn on Lap 24 by inches before pulling away by 1.948 seconds for the win.

Kyle Cummins settled for second, as Logan Seavey made the last lap pass for the final podium step and, with it, the 2024 USAC National Sprint Car Title.

Still, to be determined on Saturday night, the ASCS Elite Non-Wing Series title chase closed up dramatically as Paul White claimed first-place points as the tour’s highest-finishing driver. Crossing seventh after starting 17th, White closed the gap from 41 points to only four behind R.J. Miller.

Saturday, Oct. 26, opens at 4:00 p.m. with cars on track at 5:00 p.m. (CDT). Red Dirt Raceway is located at 343250 E. 1000 Rd HWY 18 in Meeker, OK. Information on the track can be found on the track’s website and social media pages.
