Roberts Rides to Midwest triumph at Junction!

Cody Morris, McCool Junction, Nebraska (5-25-2012) – One night removed from a midweek outing against the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by MavTV, the Speedway Motors ASCS Midwest Region rode solo to Junction Motor Speedway (Joe Orth photo).

Twenty One race teams participated in the sixth event of a 2012 campaign slated for 18 nights of action and the first of a trio of ASCS Midwest visits to the McCool Junction, Nebraska semi-banked 3/8 mile dirt oval.

With rainfall in the surrounding area, the Speedway Motors ASCS Midwest main event was quickly fired into action. As sprinkles slowly fell from the southern Nebraska sky, Aurora, Nebraska’s Ryan Roberts snared his first ASCS Midwest Region win of the season.

Roberts took command from race-long leader and outside front row starter Randy Hibbs on the 17th circuit and fending off a volatile Robby Wolfgang charge that ended when the latter’s right rear tire exploded on the 19th round.

Roberts checked out over the final half dozen laps to become the sixth different Midwest Region winner in as many contests aboard the Mid Nebraska Land Developers, Hoppy’s Heavy Towing, Salon 18, JB PowderCoating, and Stephenson Truck Repair sponsored no. 18.

The winning ride was Roberts’ fifth consecutive top ten finish following a tough season opener at Greenwood’s I-80 Speedway and the Junction Motor Speedway win brought Roberts to within seven markers of Stu Snyder’s leading point pace.

Grain Valley, Missouri native and all-time Midwest feature victory leader Brian Brown settled for runner up and Hard Charger honors, advancing six spots to his second place finish while fellow Show Me State native and uncle Danny Lasoski claimed the show position one night after his Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by MavTV triumph.

ASCS Midwest point leader Stu Snyder dropped one position to finish fourth with Trevor Grossenbacher gaining four to complete the top five finishing order.

Brian Brown, Davey Heskin, and Danny Lasoski took heat race wins over the 21 car field.

With approximately one-third of the 18 event campaign in the books, the Speedway Motors ASCS Midwest Region fires back into action in two weeks for a Eagle Raceway doubleheader against the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by MavTV on June 8th and 9th.
