Covington Ready to RED RIVER RUMBLE this Saturday at Devils Bowl!

Cody Morris, Tulsa, Oklahoma (5-28-2012) – Just three weeks removed from round one of the inaugural Red River Rumble at Devil’s Bowl, the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region and Oil Medics ASCS Lone Star Region are set for a Saturday night collision at Devil’s Bowl Speedway (Thriller Photography / Michael Jackson photo).

The legendary high-banked half mile oval located in Mesquite, Texas will host a hefty field of ASCS winged sprint cars expected to compete in round two of the Red River Rumble.

The Red River Rumble is comprised of the four ASCS Sooner vs. Lone Star events in the 2012 campaign. The Fort Worth based Oil Medics lead the sponsorship effort for the inaugural Red River Rumble that includes City Vending, Mana Fleet, TBJ Promotions, Pro Tech Services, and the Auto Center of Burleson.

The inaugural Red River Rumble features a $500 bonus to the leading point earner of the four race set, with $350 going to the runner up team and $250 earmarked for the third place team. Points are scored in ASCS fashion for each individual event and the leading team at the conclusion of the four Red River Rumble events will garner the winner’s purse as well as the Inaugural Red River Rumble Championship.

The final pair of Red River Rumble contests take place in successive weekends in July. Kennedale, Texas’ Cowtown Speedway will showcase Round 3 of the inaugural Red River Rumble on July 21st with the Sooner and Lone Star forces crossing the northern watery boundary to crown a Red River Rumble champion of July 28th.

Glenpool, Oklahoma’s Matt Covington leads all categories coming into Saturday night’s ASCS Regional battle at Devil’s Bowl Speedway. Also an Oil Medics ASCS Lone Star feature winner at Devils Bowl in April, Covington drove the OEM no. 11c to victory lane in the first Red River Rumble event that featured the ASCS Sooner vs. Lone Star Regions on May 19th.

The reigning Oil Medics ASCS Lone Star champion and 2011 American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region runner up, Covington enters this Saturday’s event at Devil’s Bowl with the early lead in the ASCS Sooner Region, Lone Star Region, and Red River Rumble.

In the sandwich event between the Red River Rumble contests, Covington recovered from heat race engine woes to grab a runner up finish this past Saturday in American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region action at Lawton Speedway.

Saturday night racing action for the Second Round of the Red River Rumble featuring the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region vs. the Oil Medics ASCS Lone Star Region begins at 8pm.
