Hanks Powers to Career Highs in Podiums, Top Fives and Top 10s in 2015

Inside Line Promotions – BURLISON, Tenn. (Nov. 24, 2015) – Brandon Hanks earned more podium finishes, top fives and top 10s during 2015 than in any other season.

“The biggest difference to me is the J-R1 cars,” he said. “Ever since I got into the J-R1 cars we’re more consistent. I’ve really felt comfortable with this new car. We learned a lot from it and we’ll have some better runs in the future.”

Hanks and the David Smith Racing team earned six podium finishes this year, including a season-best runner-up result at Outlaw Motor Speedway in Wainwright, Okla., on July 24.

“I was really hoping for a late caution,” he said. “I thought we were just as fast as Sam (Hafertepe Jr.) was. With Jake (Martens) running the same line as I was it was hard to get to second even though I felt faster. Jake ran out of fuel in the final laps and I felt like if we had a caution as soon as he ran out of fuel I had a shot at Sam, but it didn’t happen. That was one of the better runs we had all year.”

Hanks added five combined third-place results at Golden Triangle Raceway Park in Beaumont, Texas; at Battleground Speedway in Highlands, Texas; twice at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla.; and at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark.

“I’d like to get back to Victory Lane,” he said. “I did that my first season and we haven’t been back the last couple of years. Overall, it was still a good season though and something we can build on.”

Hanks also placed 13th in the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour championship standings despite missing approximately half the scheduled races. He scored a trio of top 10s with the premier 360ci series, including a career-best result of sixth place on June 6 at Salina Highbanks Speedway in Salina, Okla.

“We definitely had some strong moments this season,” he said. “I want to thank David Smith, my family, my sponsors and my fans for their support. I think we’re going to continue to improve and put ourselves in consistent contention for wins in 2016.”
