[b Dalman Smokes Winston for First ASCS SOD Win of 2009]

[i T.J. Buffenbarger, ROTHBURY, Mich. (September 4, 2009)]

Gregg Dalman had run well all season without finding victory lane during 2009 until Friday night at Winston Motor Speedway.

Dalman drove by Dustin Daggett during a mid-race restart to win his first Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP feature of the 2009 season aboard his Dalman Motorsports Kistler powered Maxim Chassis.

“I couldn’t be happier. This is the first night on a new engine, and it ran great,” said Dalman after the feature. “I was telling (Daggett) after the race I was tired of running second to him.”

Gary Fast and Daggett started on the front row for the 25-lap feature event. Fast led the first lap, but Daggett and Dalman made fast the meat in a three wide sprint car sandwich going into turn one. Going down the backstretch Daggett took the lead with Dalman in tow.

Daggett pulled away and just caught the tail end of the field when the caution appeared for a spin by Jake Stebner in turn two. Stebner restarted at the tail of the field.

Dalman took a look under Daggett during the restart, but could not make the pass. One lap later Dalman got a run off turn four, pulled under Daggett, and took the lead. Dalman continued to stretch his lead until encountering lapped traffic. Dalman was held up briefly, but changed his

line and ended up stretching his advantage to the finish line. Daggett, Fast, Ruhl, and Norman rounded out the top five.

Ruhl, Fast, and Brett Mann won heat race events held for the 24-car field at Winston. Ruhl also won the fast car dash while Louie Carufel won the B-Main.
